Torah Study (Parashat HaShavua)

Each week, all over the world, a portion of the Torah (the Five Books of Moses) — Judaism’s foundational text — is studied according to a yearly cycle that divides the Torah into 54 portions (parshiyot, in Hebrew). We have a dedicated group of learners who gather weekly to examine, review, discuss, and question each weekly portion (parashah). For us, Torah study is a way to connect, communicate, and identify with our congregation and sacred history. Additionally, similar to prayer in Jewish life, study is a communal experience.
Temple Sholom’s Torah Study is held every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Temple library. No previous background in Torah study is required — merely a spirit of curiosity and inquisitiveness. All congregants and guests are welcome.
